Colin Robson, Business & Management Consultant.

Colin received the prestigious Institute of Directors Chartered Director Award in 2008, the ‘DfEE/SFEDI 2000 Achievement Award for excellence in business advice and support’, from Sir Edward George at the Bank of England in 2000, and was elected South West Chairman of the Institute of Business Advisers (2000-2003), before becoming a Fellow of the Institute of Business Consulting in 2004.

John Montell, Accountant.

John has had many years experience in both practice and in industry , professionally trained within  a small firm of Chartered Accountants In Plymouth before moving on to work for a larger national practice and then into industry. This exposure to the 'real world' means that John has knowledge and experience in detailed management reporting in a commercial setting. His skills set includes analysis of accounts, Accounts preparation, Taxation – Personal, Company, VAT and PAYE, Sage installation and set up and customised reporting.

The production of detailed and accurate monthly/quarterly management information is of the upmost importance, and all too often decisions are based on out of date and inaccurate information.  John has experience of  designing and implementing reporting systems through Sage to enable detailed reports to beproduced automatically through Excel spreadsheets. These reports are in a far easier format to read and interpret and can be customised for each individual situation. John's example successes include:-

Project Management of the new Poole Innovation Centre, Cornwall's first Science Park for The University of Plymouth.  This landmark building (see picture below) will be officially opened by HRH Duke of Kent on July 26th 2010.

Glanville Environmental.

Delivered a successful 'business turnaround' for Glanville Environmental following the loss of a major contract which represented 70% of turnover.  Developed internal tendering capabilities, restructured the business and secured £1m+ in tenders and five year framework contracts with plc's despite the impact of the recession on the commercial environment.

Browns More Hair Now Ltd.

Business Advisor and Company Secretary to the Directors of a niche wig and hair extension company over a ten year period. Secured major contracts with NHS Trusts to deliver Alopecia and Chemopherapy Clinics and wholesale supply to Agents throughout the UK.

International Communications company.  

Director Mentoring and Business Planning to a London based International Communication company.  This UK-based, internationally-focussed company has a strong track record in delivering communications and public diplomacy strategies; consulting on media and telecommunications law and regulatory frameworks; advising on media infrastructure development including assisting the development of public service broadcasting and providing professional training and institutional capacity building.

The company delivers rapid, sophisticated, and effective coaching and project management services to a varied worldwide client base including Governments, International Community Agencies, Broadcast and Telecoms Regulators, Media Regulatory Bodies and NGOs.

Seafood Restaurant - Padstow

Designed and implemented weekly reporting through Excel spreadsheets to cover all aspects of the business. Creating templates to import information into Sage prepared by non accounts staff. Designed and implemented monthly management reporting Excel templates linked to budgets with analytical analysis (Gross profit percentages, spend per cover, etc,).

 Advanced Panel Systems - Callington

Inplemented accurate monthly management via excel templates and through the accurate measurement of work in progress at month ends. Created a flexi budget for 'what if' projections,  showing the effect of potential staff cuts, price rises, increased sales, etc.

 Pyramid Production Services -  Plymouth

Implemented detailed monthly management accounts through excel templates . Tailored the input of information into excel to enable detailed costing to be extracted via excel. Departmental analysis undertaken to show the profitability of each area of the business.
